Not one to normally write reviews, but this felt worthy. I have a had a lifetime of major dental issues over the years gave me me a phobia about dentists. When my front teeth began to fail me I knew it was time for major work. I began researching different dental approaches and offerings, I came up with what I wanted from my dentist.1. A single dentist to perform the work2. A dentist who has experience in this procedure.3. Someone who uses the latest technology to assist in the process.4. Transparency in costs.In my search I found Dr.Tapaltsyan, he checked all the boxes for me.Initially what really won me over was me submitting my picture to him for an online evaluation. In two days he emailed back a personal video of himself walking through his initial assessment and estimated cost. He even referenced me by name a couple of times which I appreciate, he gave me assurance that he was the dentist for me. For my first appointment Dr T did a thorough exam and I agreed to move forward with arch replacement. I admit I was very nervous but the procedure went smoothly and was one of the most painless experiences I have had at a dentist. Dr T, Kat, Anna, Elyse and the entire team really have there act together. I highly recommend Dr T for anyone who is considering major dental implant or arch replacement.

They scheduled me for a few days out, and called me to fill an earlier cancellation; I was most grateful. Dr George took good care of me. I came back a few days later for a regular cleaning. Don’t be deceived by the building. This dental practice is a hidden jewel. Front desk staff, hygienist, PA, and DDS, all professional. I recommend without reservation.

Went in for my for my first dental appointment in years, so didn't know what to expect. Everyone was friendly, and I wasn't made to feel badly about waiting so long to come in. The office was clean, and bright and I felt like I was in good hands throughout my entire visit. I will need to deal with some deferred maintenance which is to be expected. A type of mouth guard I haven't tried was recommended, and I want to get some minor chips restored. I am glad to have everything I need done in one place!

I called during Christmas week to schedule an emergency appointment to address a lost filling in a wisdom tooth. Amazingly, the staff was able to arrange an appointment the following afternoon, though they cautioned it would only be to evaluate the situation, not to repair the problem.I arrived for my appointment, was promptly seated in an examination room, and was able to see Dr. George within minutes.He not only evaluated the problem, but he actually repaired it on the spot. He also discussed my options for more comprehensive treatments should the situation recur, though he did not push (nor actually recommend) a more expensive procedure.Dr. George and the Berkeley Hills Dentistry staff were professional, cordial, and wonderful to deal with in every respect.An excellent experience throughout.

I suffered from SEVERE dental anxiety, hadn't been to the dentist in over 20 years, and my teeth or what was left of them, were so poor I was having a difficult time eating. I ended up getting full mouth implants, and honestly couldn't have had a better experience. I came to this dental office for some years and it's always been good. When Doctor Talpatsyan took over it became even better. He teaches at UCSF. I have very sensitive teeth and when I needed a root canal I was very nervous as my teeth are sometimes hard to completely anesthetize. I had complete dental implants, upper and lower, which is quite a detailed process. I had previously checked out a few places, big chains who claim to do everything in one day. But Dr. T was careful about explaining why that may not be my best choice based on my specific dental health and age. At every step of the way I felt informed, had all my questions answered in detail, and the doctor called to check on me after each major step to make sure I was tolerating the process.One’s smile and dental health are important and I always felt uncomfortable about my teeth. Alright, pardon the wall of text but I had to leave a review! This place has been across my family business for years so I thought I’d check it out to get an estimate for implants. Basically, I saw Dr. Tapaltsyan (I call him Dr. T) for full mouth implants after getting a few consults from the area and in SF, which I wasn’t too thrilled about. It was imperative to find someone who could do everything in house, and had experience with the implants (hello, major surgery!), but also use some of the new technologies I’ve seen to make it as lease invasive as possible.Having years of dental issues I’ve definitely developed a phobia of dentists, resulting in you can imagine next, which is why my constraints were so important.I saw that Dr Tapaltsyan’s office checked off all my boxes, so I setup an initial virtual consultation, which was free. Dr T took the time to review all my concerns and sent me a custom video back, which included an estimated cost. I was happy to get some transparency so quickly, and avoid going into the office (hello, anxiety).Tldr: Subsequent surgery and recovery went really well and the staff, including Dr. T we’re all super nice and patient with my situation. I’m stoked about the result, mostly because it was painless and a really smooth experience overall. I highly recommend this practice for anyone who is interested in major dental implants or any other dental work. Don’t worry about your anxiety, you’re in good hands, I wish I did this sooner!

You will not find a better dentist or implant specialist in the bay area.Here's my story: I live in San Francisco. I researched implant dentists all over the bay before making a decision. I was in bad shape, in serious pain mostly from my own neglect over the years (I'm 57) but also from having a dentist who made things worse. The pain was chronic and then, on a camping trip (to Death Valley no less), acute. My old dentist recommended root canal. I had my doubts (pretty sure he gets a referral fee) then went to other dentists who examined the x-rays and said root canal would never never work. Poorly trained dentists abound!All to say, if you are in a similar situation I am more than confident to recommend Berkeley Hills. I honestly feel they are at the top of their game in all of the bay area. In my situation there was no quick fix. The doctor knew how to reduce the pain immediately which helped and then the work began over a series of appointments and stages. I needed a bone graph. Whole process took bout a year. The doctor is incredibly knowledgable and works to preserve existing teeth. In my case I did need three implants. Now I have a full set of teeth and operating at 100%. It's been a couple weeks since I finished up and every day I wake up in gratitude. Go to this dentist!A final note about cost. I'm not wealthy. I paid for it with a combination of out of pockets payments, a loan from a friend and with dental insurance. The office staff (amazing!!!) printed out a schedule of payments when we knew what needed to be done. Comparatively the prices are within bay area prices. I did consider doing the cross-border run to Mexico but when you add up the cost of travel, time off from work, the fact that you can't just have quick check ups, and the gamble of randomly choosing a dentist, it didn't seem worth it in the end.I wish everyone great teeth!!

My first visit was a tooth infection because the previous dentist did not fill the root correctly, then he was able to save a tooth that 2 other dentist wanted to pull because they could not get my bottom jaw numb.He's very efficient, does excellent work, knowledgable, his staff are the nicest people. I had my first appointment with Berkeley Hills Dentistry today and they were so incredibly helpful! Everyone is nice and on top of it. Also Kat is amazing and so sweet. Going to keep these as my Dentist office for a while now. Dr. Tapaltsyan is a former instructor of mine at UCSF School of Dentistry, whom I worked with quite frequently while I was a student there. Although he supervised my own work, he often performed procedures on my patients while demonstrating techniques. My patients appreciated his speed, especially when he would sit down to make things look so easy. Because he is a UCSF alumnus like myself, I know that he was trained well as it is one of the top dental schools in the country. Because I've seen him treat my own patients, I know he is a skilled clinician. He has mentored me through difficult cases that many general dentists do not have experience in.My brother was in need of a dentist in the Bay Area for a root canal and his previous dentist was not able to do the procedure. I immediately thought of Dr. Tapaltsyan. He was more than willing to accommodate my brother into his busy schedule, while also doing exceptional work. Found out about this office from a friend of mine. I have had to change dentists several times because of moving and such and this is by far the best dental office that I have been to. Everyone that works there is very welcoming. The doctors are very caring and knowledgeable. I required considerable dental work and Dr. Tapaltsyan did all my dental work. Unlike most dentists that just want to sit you down and get you out of their chair as soon as possible, Dr. Tapaltsyan really took his time to talk to me about the treatment that I needed. He has so much passion for what he does and he really cares about his patients. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend that you check out this place.
